We worked with the Pro Bono Commission to bring the law closer to those who need it most

We renewed our commitment to strengthening access to justice through our participation in various initiatives promoted by the Pro Bono Commission of the Bar Association of the City of Buenos Aires. This large network, of which we are part, brings together more than 3,000 professionals who offer their knowledge free of charge.

“At Mitrani Caballero, Pro Bono work is not an isolated action or a formal obligation: it is a value that runs through our culture from within. We believe that legal excellence and commitment to the public interest are not opposed, but rather enhance each other,” said Yamila Di Martino, Pro Bono coordinator of our firm.

One of the actions in which we participated was the Pro Bono Challenge, the academic competition organized by the Commission to encourage law students to generate social impact. We attended the awards ceremony and then met with one of the winning teams to support them in implementing their proposal, a program for institutional strengthening for non-profit civil associations.

In addition, we joined various legal clinics to provide free legal guidance to those who, due to their socioeconomic situation, would not otherwise be able to access private legal advice. Yamila Di Martino, Sigrid Konecny, Guillermina Widmery and Facundo Federico participated in the meetings held at the Bar Association of the City of Buenos Aires, in Barrio Padre Mugica and in La Boca.

“These spaces make it possible to strengthen a committed, approachable and service-oriented legal practice. We especially value the creation of these areas of collaboration, which invite the profession to become actively involved and to continue building a legal practice with social impact,” said our Pro Bono coordinator.

On the occasion of its anniversary celebration, the Commission presented the book “25 years transforming lives through Law”, which brings together more than 110 authors. Yamila Di Martino wrote the article titled “The strategic value of working pro bono with a clearing house such as the Pro Bono Commission of the Bar Association of the City of Buenos Aires”. She was present at the celebration of this major milestone together with Carlos Trógolo and Mercedes Rodríguez Giavarini.

We also participated in the meetings that bring together representatives of the firms that are part of the Commission. These meetings are essential to remain aligned and to develop joint projects.

We thank all the members of Mitrani Caballero who join these initiatives on a daily basis and support us in our commitment to achieving more equitable access to justice.
