We advised Central Puerto on the concession process for Piedra del Águila Hydroelectric Plant

Our firm advised Central Puerto S.A. throughout all stages of the process launched by the Argentine State for the concession of the Piedra del Águila Hydroelectric Plant, located in the province of Neuquén. The company was awarded the concession after submitting a bid of US$245 million, positioning itself as the largest electricity generator in the country.

With an installed capacity of 1,440 MW, the Piedra del Águila Hydroelectric Plant represents a strategically significant asset for renewable energy generation and for the Argentine electricity system as a whole. Central Puerto has operated the plant since 1994.

The process was carried out through a public tender called by the Ministry of Economy, aimed at the sale of 100% of the share capital of four concessionaire companies: Alicurá Hidroeléctrica Argentina S.A., Chocón Hidroeléctrica Argentina S.A., Cerros Colorados Hidroeléctrica Argentina S.A., and Piedra del Águila Hidroeléctrica Argentina S.A.

The team advising on this matter was led by partner María Laura Lede Pizzurno and associate Gonzalo Castagnini, who worked closely with the company’s in-house legal team.

This engagement reflects the trust that leading companies such as Central Puerto place in our firm for transactions of high complexity and strategic importance.
