We participated in The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law’s international conference.

We participated in the 17th edition of the Special Institute on International Mining and Oil & Gas Law, Development, and Investment, organized by The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law. On this occasion, our partner Matías Olcese was a speaker on one of the conference panels.

Held in Lima, Peru, the event brought together lawyers and industry specialists from around the world to discuss the key legal, regulatory, policy, and investment challenges facing the energy and natural resources sector. Over the course of three days, participants engaged in discussions with international experts and took part in networking opportunities with fellow professionals.

Matías Olcese spoke on the panel titled “Comparative Legal and Policy Approaches to Promote Investment in Mining, Oil & Gas in Latin America,” alongside Ana Carolina Barretto from Veirano Advogados (Brazil) and Miguel Rivero Betancourt from Leĝa (Venezuela). The panel was moderated by Patricia Arrázola-Bustillo from Gómez-Pinzón Abogados S.A.S. (Colombia).

Our partner shared his perspective on the impact of various strategies to encourage investment in mining, oil, and gas, with a focus on the minerals needed for the energy transition. He addressed measures such as tax incentives and regulatory reforms, and reflected on the challenges related to sustainability, community engagement, and resource sovereignty.

We are grateful to have been invited to take part in the conference organized by The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law as leaders in the field of energy and natural resources. Events like this are always valuable opportunities to learn from regional peers and exchange views on the next steps required for the sector’s development.
