Mitrani Caballero participates in the 17th US & Latin America Tax Practice Trends Conference

Mitrani Caballero participated in the 17th edition of the US and Latin America Tax Practice Trends Conference, co-hosted by the International Bar Association (IBA) and the American Bar Association (ABA) in Miami. Our firm was represented by partners Corina P. Laudato and Gloria Gurbista.

Over three days, leading tax professionals and senior government and OECD officials discussed key trends in taxation affecting multinational enterprises and their advisors. The program also explored the global landscape in light of current developments impacting corporate taxpayers.

Corina P. Laudato, head of our Tax Law practice, was a speaker on the panel “HNW Clients and Trusts: Contemporary Trends and Challenges in Latin America.” The discussion focused on the use of trusts as a key tool for wealth planning and asset protection, as well as the challenges of implementing them across multiple jurisdictions.

She was joined by José Maurício C. Abreu (Farroco Abreu Advogados), Alil Álvarez Alcalá (Álvarez Alcalá, SC), Myriam Bril (Goldman Sachs), Javier Otegui (Guyer & Regules), and Jennifer J. Wioncek (Bilzin Sumberg). The panel was moderated by Hermano A. C. Notaroberto Barbosa (BMA) and Heather Fincher (Kostelanetz LLP).

Gloria Gurbista had the honor of co-coordinating the first-ever Women Tax Counsel and Executives panel in the history of the conference. The panel addressed the challenges and opportunities faced by in-house tax professionals in an increasingly complex environment—both for multinational companies and high-net-worth individuals.

The session featured insights from Marilyn Basallo (Restaurant Brands International), Arielle Borsos (Uber), Maria Fernanda Campos (Ford Latin America), Carolina Cintra (J.P. Morgan Private Bank), and Neelu Mehrotra (EY). It was led by Alice Abreu (Temple University School of Law) and Raquel Novais (Machado Meyer Advogados).
